Seriously, at first, I experienced quite a hard time deciding on my research topic and stating my RO and RQ. Most probably it's because I still did not get the idea of how specific should a research title be.I also can't even decide on the direction of what my research is going to be like.
This was my 1st title submitted to Dr. Teoh, together with my RO and RQ. Once I received the response from Dr. Teoh, then only it made me think, yes!a study of the approaches seems to be very broad. I have to decide on 1 or maybe 2 if i want to compare between those 2.
Although Dr. Teoh did not pinpoint anything on the "to teach literature in ESL classrooms" part but I guess I have to make it specific too... teach literature? It's too general right... what kind of literature?
Novel? Short Stories?Poem?Play? Yes, I indeed have to focus on one genre. But it's good that I can actually get the response and revamp whatever I've done wrong.
Ok!Till next time!

My 1st EDU702 Class
Oh before that... I'm actually a 2nd intake student, so I kind of being left off behind a bit. So during my 1st class with Dr. Teoh, I was asked to submit Task 1...which was stating our topic area (TA), problem statement or research problem (RP), research objectives (RO) and research questions (RQ). Basically in choosing the topic area, I need to go through a brainstorming session in order to select a topic and to narrow it down and narrow it down further. After all it's very good to be more and more specific so that our research could benefit certain particular people or group who are going through the same situation. We need to state our research problem so that we could introduce the reader to the importance of the topic being studied, places the problem into a particular context that defines the parameters of what exactly are the areas to be investigated and also to provide framework in order to report the result.
After I'm done selecting my TA and RP, need to list down my RO. Before I do this, i need to ask myself three questions; what is the purpose of the research, what information is being sought and how will be the information be used. Once I'm done listing down my RO, than my RQ would be pretty much the same with RO, it's just that the sentences would be in question statement. To be continued.
Oh by the way, we were introduced to LIRAS today. LIRAS is basically a software stands for Literature Review Analysis System. It's quite a cool software as it helps to categorize the literature review according to its main subjects. But I guess I need more practice with it. Will try out more again soon!

Hello!
Hi! I'm Shazrina and the reason this blog was created is to share with you the process and the procedures that I will go through in executing my research. Anyway, my instructor for paper EDU702 Research Methodology is Dr. Teoh Sian Hoon and this blog which is also referred to as E-Portfolio is actually worth 15% from our total assessment marks. Here's a very informative diagram to describe how research can actually be carried out. Enjoy!
